H. L. Dean, 62, Cedar county Weed Commissioner, and a highly esteemed resident of Tipton, passed away early Tuesday at his home.

Hiram Lucius Dean was born in Tipton, Jan. 24, 1891, and passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 19. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, Feb. 21 at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church and interment will be in the Masonic cemetery. Rev. Raymond Ferguson of the Tipton Presbyterian church will conduct the service.

Survivors include his wife, Rose, one son, Dwight, of Tipton; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Trunkey, of Ames; a brother, Weber, of California; and one sister, Mrs. Trent E. Sanford, of Evanston, Ill.
