Charley Metz, eldest son of Martin and Margaret Metz, was born in Cedar county, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1879, and passed away at his home near Buchanan, Iowa, at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 19 days. He had spent his entire life in this community with the exception of ten years, when a boy in Nebraska.

He had been in failing health for several years, and passed away very suddenly of a heart attack.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Surviving are two sisters and two brothers: Grace Herring of Tipton, Iowa; Alda Seitz of York, Pa.; and Roy and Ray of Tipton, Iowa.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan 7, 1952, in the Sheets funeral home with Rev. Raymond Tiesmeyer officiating and burial in Tipton Masonic cemetery.
