Charles Edward Peck was born July 31, 1911, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was the son of Burchard and Georgia Peck. In 1936 he moved to the Tipton vicinity and on May 24, 1936, was married to Maurine Chapman. To this union were born 8 children, two daughters Sandra and Judith, and 6 sons, Robert, Edward, Richard, Donald, Dennis and Thomas. Dennis passed away in 1952.

Charles Peck was a hard worker and an affectionate husband and father. He passed away Nov. 16, 1955, of a heart attack while at his work in Muscatine, at the age of 44 years, 4 months and 5 days.

He is survived by his wife and seven children; his father and step-mother Mr. and Mrs. Burchard Peck of Cedar Rapids; his brother Paul of Blakesburg; a sister Florence Carlson of Davenport, and two half brothers, Leonard of Cedar Rapids, and Robert in the Air Force in England. His mother, sister and son have preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 19, 1955, in the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with Pastor Robert Harter officiating and interment in Tipton Masonic cemetery.
