Funeral services for Charles Lamp were conducted Sunday, Nov. 20, 1955, in the Sheets and Dahn funeral home in Tipton, with Pastor Robert Harter officiating. Interment was in Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Charles William Lamp was born on Jan. 2, 1877, near Durant, Iowa. He was the son of Hendrick and Margaret Steffen Lamp. August 11, 1909, he was united in marriage to Anna Thordsen, in Tipton. To this union were born two daughters, Miss Carrie Lamp of Grand Canyon, Arizona, and Mrs. Arleene Martens, of Tipton.

Charles Lamp was a barber in Tipton for some years and lived west of Tipton where he also farmed. Later he moved to town, but continued farming up until the time of his death. He became seriously ill on Sunday, Nov. 13, and was taken to Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, on Monday morning. He passed away there on Thursday, Nov. 17, 1955, at 2:15 a.m. at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 21 days.

Casket bearers were Clarence Morningstar, Lew Werling, Frank Lausen, Wm. Malkmus, Guy Maruer and Wm. Wilke.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son-in-law Norwin Martens, four brothers, Ed and Fred of Tipton, Julius of West Branch, Joe of Letts, and three sisters, Rose Weih, Emma Lafrenz and Kathryn Achey, all of Tipton; two grandchildren, Larry and Ann Martens; 32 nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and one brother. He was a lover of the soil, a hard worker and a fine husband and father.
