Memorial services for Fred Thomas Challis were held at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 15, with Rev. Harold Kratzat officiating. Interment was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Fred Thomas Challis was the son of Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Sarah Challis on August 15, 1878, in Tipton, Iowa. He suffered a heart attack Friday evening, Nov. 11, and died shortly thereafter.

He was united in marriage to Grace E. Barclay on Dec. 24, 1906, in Davenport, Iowa. They were happily married until death separated them. Mr. Challis was a retired nurseryman and farmer.

He leaves besides his wife, Mrs. Grace Challis, one son, Mr. Thomas Frederick Challis of Chattanooga, Tenn.; also one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Hobstetter of Tipton; and three brothers, H. Ray Challis of Tipton, Floyd O. Challis of Cedar Rapids, and Ralph G. Challis of Davenport.

A daughter, Clarice, and a brother Walter, preceded him in death.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the Fred Challis funeral service here Tuesday afternoon included: Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Challis, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lake, of Davenport; Mr. Dean W. Challis, Marion, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Challis, Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Challis and Mrs. Cliff Lambert, of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Challis of Des Moines; Mrs. Bert Tracht of Milwaukee, Wisc; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wright, Miss Ida Ridenour, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Becker of Mechanicsville; Mrs. Ed Baldwin, West Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Veno Rixe of New Liberty; Mrs. Ward Larrison, Mitchell, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Challis of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
