Memorial services for Mr. Reed C. Workman of Stanwood were held at the Stanwood Methodist church Monday afternoon, Oct. 24, at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. George Gaide, assisted by Rev. Thos. Stewart, officiating. Interment was in the Stanwood cemetery.

Reed C. Workman, 60, passed away at St. Luke's hospital at Cedar Rapids, Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8:45 p.m., following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 5, 1895, to Casper and Emma Workman, north of Stanwood, later moving to Missouri with his parents. Coming back to Iowa, he settled near Lisbon and later left this community to serve in World War I.

Upon his return he was united in marriage to Pearl Rebecca Lehr of Lisbon on March 2, 1921. They made their home in the vicinity of Lisbon until 1937 when they moved to Stanwood and established their home on the farm until two years ago, when they moved to town.

His wife, Pearl, preceded him in death four weeks ago.

He leaves to mourn, two sons and one daughter, LaVerne E. of Stockton, Myron R. and Wilma J. Havel, both of Stanwood; 6 grandchildren, Dennis and Gary Workman, Larry and Kaylene Havel, Dianna and Donna Workman; one brother and two sisters, Clark of Clarence, Agnes Reynolds of Lisbon and Faye Ellison of Cedar Rapids, and a number of other relatives.

Preceded him in death were his parents, twin brothers Ray and Jay, and one sister, Melba, who died in infancy.

Mr. Workman was baptized and became a member of the Stanwood Methodist church.

The Chapman funeral home of Clarence was in charge of the services.
