Mrs. Katie Curran was born in Cedar county, Iowa, on April 15th, 1876 and died at the Mercy hospital at Cedar Rapids, Ia., on January 12, 1916, age 89 years, 8 months and 27 days, the cause of her death being complications following a severe attack of la grippe. The remains were brought here on Saturday morning, January 15, for burial. Requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. P. McNamara of Toronto, assisted by Rev. Small of Lost Nation and Rev. Regan of Oxford Junction, at St. James' church. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery here, followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and many old friends and neighbors. She leaves to mourn her a devoted husband, three children, Merle, age 12; Ethel, aged 10 and Ward, age 5; four brothers, J. B. Curran of Clarence, E. L. of Stanwood, J. E. of Manteca, Cal., M. G. of Winnipeg, Canada, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Cosgrove of Frontenac, Minn., besides a number of relatives and a host of old friends and neighbors.
