Lilly Lloyd Laing, daughter of George and Katherine Marker, was born at Cedar Bluffs, Iowa, on Aug. 16, 1879. She passed away on Sept. 29, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 13 days, at the Thurston nursing home after a lingering illness of three years.

Mrs. Laing was born and reared in Cedar county, Iowa. She was married to James Robert Laing on February 8, 1899, and they immediately established their home on a farm in Red Oak township. At the age of 34, she was baptized and received into the Presbyterian church at Red Oak Grove.

Her husband preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1950, and her daughter Daisy, Aug. 20, 1952.

Survivors include nine children: William of Lisbon; Andrew of Mt. Vernon; Jim, George, Mearl and John of Tipton; Earl of West Branch; Harold of Clarence; and Mary Schroeder of Atalissa. She is also survived by one brother, Norman, of Cedar Bluffs, and three sisters, Stella Hubler of Cedar Valley, Mahala Hubler of Cedar Rapids, and Julia Bair of Buchanan.

She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Laing greatly enjoyed the comradeship of her children and took an active part in their family affairs.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Oct. 2, 1955, in the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with Rev. Ralph Edie officiating and interment in Red Oak cemetery.
