21 February 1889 - The Local Record

DIED. BRANTINGHAM -- Saturday evening, March 9, 1889, at the residence of his son-in-law A. F. Kramer, of West Branch, GEORGE BRANTINGHAM, aged 77 years, 3 months and 4 days.

He has been confined to his room for about three months from a complication of diseases subject to old age and although his suffering at times was intense his end was peace.

He was born in Goshen, Chester county, Pa., December 5, 1811, and with his parents moved to Columbiana county, Ohio, while quite young. On the 28th of August, 1845 he was married to Marie Vaughn of New Garden, same county. They moved to Jennings county, Ind., in 1852, where they remained seventeen years, then came to Iowa and for twenty years he has lived at or near West Branch. His wife died at this place in the summer of 1881. Four children survive him, Barely, Jennie, Esther and Alvin. The funeral services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Friends church.
