The following taken from the Marshalltown Times-Republican will be of interest to many of the residents of this section. The subject of the sketch was well known at one time by almost everyone in the town and was related to many and had been a frequent visitor here at various times:
"F. D. Carr, the aged father of Mrs. A. T. Gruwell, of 803 South Third avenue, died Sunday morning at 7 o'clock at the Gruwell home of heart failure, after an illness of ten days. Mr. Carr's home was in Alliance, O., but during the past eight years he had been spending his summers at his daughter's home in this city. Mr. Carr had been in active business until within recent years, or since his health failed. He was 82 years of age at the time of his death. The body left Monday afternoon for Alliance, O., and from there will be taken to Marlboro, O., for interment. Mr. and Mrs. Gruwell accompanied the body.
