ISABELLE RHODES HOFFMAN Was born in Somersot county, Penn., May 7, 1833, and lived there 23 years. In 1850 she was married to Levi Hoffman. Shortly after their marriage her husband went to the gold fields of California in quest of fortune and a home. He did not remain long, however, but returned home and in 1856 he and his wife and two children came to Iowa, located in Cedar county. Here they lived until death--the husband dying July 22, 1894, Mrs. Hoffman's death occurring Feb. 25, 1908.

Febr. 6, 1896, a son died, leaving three boys, Edward, L. R. and A. G., all of whom are married and live in the neighborhood of the old home.

In 1876 Sister Hoffman and one son united with the U.B. church where she held her membership until 1907 when she transferred it to the Honey Grove M.E. church, where she was a member until her death.

Sister Hoffman leaves a vacant place in home, in the church, and in the community where she has lived for many years and where she has made many friends who are left to mourn her death. H.M.S.
