Sarah Grant Collins was born in Mt. Holly, N.J., April 10, 1818. She was the sixth born of seven children, there being four daughters and three sons in her father's family. The family moved near to Salem, O., when the deceased was five years of age. There she grew to womanhood and was married to Wm. M. Collins in 1844. Ten years ago Mr. and Mrs. Collins celebrated their golden wedding. In the spring of 1850 they came from Ohio to Iowa, settling near Rochester, in Cedar county. In 1872 they came to West Branch, where they continued to make their home, until Death claimed them. Oct. 2, 1899, the husband passed on before to the other world, where he has been waiting his aged companion to join him. And now she has found him. The companionship broken for the past few years has been renewed, only the association and fellowship is under holier and more exalted and heavenly conditions.

Mrs. Collins was the mother of eight children, six sons and two daughters. There remain to cherish her memory three sons and two daughters, twenty-one grand children and thirteen great grand children. Sister Collins was converted and united with the church early in life. Since 1872 she has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in West Branch. She loved her church and loved to worship with God's people. During the past few years, owing to feeble health and infirmities of age she has been unable to attend the services of the church. She appreciated the calls of her pastor and spoke of her faith in Christ with great fervency. Tenderly we lay the mortal remains of this aged mother in the narrow house of mother earth, to await the resurrection morn. Her work is ended. Her hands are folded in peaceful rest. She hopes to meet her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren in the better world. Do not disappoint her.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. B. Davis, assisted by J. Y. Hoover, at the M. E. church, Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 21.
