11 February 1904 - West Branch Times

Elizabeth H., wife of William Miles, and daughter of Jesse and Rebecca Hoover, was born near West Milton, Ohio, on the 20th of December, 1827, where she spent her youthful life. She was united in marriage with William Miles, Nov. 21, 1850, and settled at West Branch, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1853, where they resided the greater part of their married life. To them were born six daughters, all of whom are left to mourn the loss of a loving and beloved mother, and comfort an afflicted and grief stricken father. Sister Elizabeth was a consistent and useful member of Friends' church and filled many of its most important offices; she was definitely converted to God in early life. She was a careful and diligent reader of the Scriptures from childhood and read her Bible five times through, later in life. She laid aside one-tenth of her earning for the Lord, according to His word, and was a cheerful giver to the church work, was a true believer in the atoning blood of Jesus, the Christ, and her daily life exemplified her faith in Him. She was a patient and quiet sufferer for more than three years, and quietly passed from works to rewards, near the midnight hour on the 1st of February, 1904, at the advanced age of 76 years, 1 month and 11 days. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."

A very appropriate and impressive service was conducted at 2 p.m., Feb. 3, and her remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Friends' cemetery.

The family and relatives wish to record their sincere thanks for the kindness and sympathy of all who administered to them in their bereavement.
