13 June 1907 - West Branch Times

Ann Harrison was born in Rockdale England, Jan. 14, 1831; died June 7, 1907, aged 76 years, 4 months, 7 days.

When but a babe she came with her parents to this country and settled in Philadelphia, where she lived until her marriage Sept, 2, 1850, to Zachariah Smith. They settled in Salem, Ohio, where they lived about one year, removing thence to a farm near West Branch, Iowa, where they lived until a few years ago when they retired from the hard work of the farm to live in the town of West Branch.

Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Smith of whom eight are still living and all present at the funeral except one son, Walter, of Oklahoma, who was unable to come.

Mrs. Smith united with the Baptist church in her girlhood and after coming to Iowa joined the Fairview Presbyterian church of which she remained a faithful member until her removal from the farm, when she transferred her membership to the West Branch church. She was a woman of sterling character, loved and respected by a large circle of friends who will greatly miss her from the place she has so long occupied in the community.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday, June 10th, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. W. A. Montgomery and the body was laid to rest in the West Branch cemetery.
