22 November 1888 - The Local Record

DIED--On Sunday Nov. 18th, 1888 Elmer son of Ross and Sarah Leech, aged 6 years 1 month and 15 days.

Elmer was an affectionate, obedient, dutiful child always exhibiting deep love for relatives and friends. About a year ago he was afflicted with a paralytic stroke and has suffered ever since. During his sickness he exhibited a fortitude scarcely equaled by grown people. He was a great comfort to his parents, an only boy he was dearly loved perhaps more dearly because of his affliction. The funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from his fathers home, conducted by Rev. W. S. Craft. He was intered at Highland cemetery. His sorrowing parents and relatives have the sympathy of the community as was evidenced by the large number following the little one to his last resting place. He has gone to be with him who said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God."
