7 August 1911 - The Tipton Advertiser

Mrs. Nancy A. Simmermaker, daughter of William and Mary Matthews, was born in Cedar county, Iowa, June 15, 1845, and died at her home, south of Tipton, August 14, 1911, aged 66 years, 1 month and 29 days.

She grew to womanhood in this community and was married to George Simmermaker, April 2, 1872. To this union five children were born, one daughter, and four sons. The daughter died in infancy, but the sons are all living. They are Charles F., William S., Fred and Forest.

Her mother died in October, 1881, and her father, Wm. Matthews, April 8, 1904. She was one of six children three sons and three daughters, all of whom have preceded her to the spirit world, except John P. Matthews, who resides in Tipton.

A short time after her marriage she united with the Reformed church at Hebron, under the pastorate of Rev. J. B. Shonts, and afterward transferred her membership to the Reformed church in Tipton, of which she remained a member to the time of her decease.

For a number of years she has been afflicted, scarcely ever able to be taken from the house, and death came to her as a great relief.

She has always lived in this community and many can speak of the kindness of her heart.

The funeral services were held from her late residence, on Wednesday, August 16th, at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Masonic cemetery.
