29 March 1900 - West Branch Times

Charles Forest, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Webster, was born January 29, 1895 and departed this life Mar 22, 1900, aged 5 years, 1 month and 24 days. Forest, as he was known, was an unusually bright child and a favorite of all who knew him. He often said, since his little brother passed away 7 or 8 months ago, that he was going to be a good boy and go see Vernon.

No doubt his parents little thought he would go so soon, but He who said "Suffer the little children to come unto me" sent his angels to bear his disembodied spirit from earth's sorrowing and sighing to the land of eternal day.

Little Forest was only sick a few days but during this time suffered much. Pneumonia was the cause of his death. All that willing hands and loving hearts could do was done but Thursday noon it became apparent that his hours were numbered and at 12 o'clock Thursday night he left us with weeping eyes and aching hearts. But thank God, we do not mourn as those who have no hope. Mr. and Mrs. Webster have the heartfelt sympathy of all who know them.

The funeral services were held from the M.P. church of Downey Sunday March 25 conducted by the pastor Rev. E. R. McCorkle. Nothwithstanding the rain, the church was crowded with sympathizing friends. After service we wended our way with aching hearts to West Liberty where the body was interred by the side of his brother's. May God bless those who weep and comfort the sad hearts is the prayer of the writer.
