Minnella Esther, oldest daughter of G. L. and Hannah Jane Barnes, was born at West Branch, Iowa, August 21, 1873. Her mother being removed by death when the children were little, she became the mother sister, being one of the daughters of earth which was naturally a lady, and was loved by all who knew her. She was converted in one of Rev. Craft's meetings, spent 3 years in California where she was president of the Junior work in Friends' church in Pasadena.

Was married to Charles Armstrong November 16, 1898, being in feeble health at the time of her happy union and although fighting with true womanly courage against it, the disease slowly but surely made its way until the morning of the 22, when she calmly fell asleep in Jesus. And after 2 short years of patient and faithful watching, her loving companion, father, brother and sisters looked for the last time upon the face of this loved one and laid her to rest until the morning of the resurrection.
