3 September 1896 - West Branch Times

Rezin Crozier died last Tuesday morning at 4 o'clock, surrounded by his wife, eight children and sympathizing friends.

On Wednesday of last week he complained of feeling unwell, and Friday night had a stroke of apoplexy which terminated fatally as above stated.

Funeral services were held in the M.E. church on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Not more than one half the people who came to attend the rites could enter the church, as standing room could not be had. The services were conducted by the Rev. Eddy assisted by the Rev. Woodcock, and were beautiful and impressive. The floral effect was profuse.

Rezin Crozier was a man universally esteemed for his good citizenship and excellent traits of character and the large procession nearly a mile in length which followed him to his last resting place in Wall Lake cemetery was a touching tribute to the memory of the deceased. The pall bearers were his own sons, six of whom acted in that capacity, and the service was pretty and impressive. They are all young men, highly esteemed in this locality, where they have all grown up to manhood, which made the service more impressive.

Rezin Crozier was born August 22nd 1830 in Columbiana county, Ohio, where he continued to live till 1852, when he came to Iowa with his parents settling in Cedar county where he was united in marriage to Miss Hanna Hawley, Sept. 18th, 1854. In March 1879 they moved to Sac county where they settled on a farm he purchased three miles northwest of Lake View, where they continued to reside until three years ago when he built a residence in this place and moved to town to give his younger children the benefit of our high school.

The deceased was a member of the Friends' church from childhood, and was an exemplary Christian and an excellent citizen, honored and respected by all who knew his worth. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his loss. Peace to his sleeping dust. --Lake View Resort.
