Last Friday night, Nov. 16, Esther Green, in the ninetieth year of her age, quietly passed away. Six months ago she suffered a fall which resulted in the fracture of her hip; the bone never knit, which rendered her helpless ever since. She has been a patient sufferer, but the direct cause of her death is considered to be from the effect of her confinement, as she was naturally very active and cheerful. She leaves an only daughter to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent Christian mother. Esther Stanley was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, in the year 1811, where she was married to Daniel Green and a few years later moved to Iowa and first settled in Johnson county, afterwards to the vicinity, and finally to the town of West Branch where her husband died about eight years ago. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Friends (Wilbur) church where the funeral was held on Sabbath day at 10 a.m.
