John Cihla was born in Bohemia March 27, 1849, and passed away from this life at 2:45 p.m., April 23, 1926, at the age of 77 years and 27 days.

He came to America in 1870 and from then on his entire life was spent in Cedar and Johnson counties.

In 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Katie Swaner, who survives with the children, four sons and two daughters, Thomas and Frank of West Branch, Joseph of Tipton, Ia, and James of Wisconsin, and Mrs. Barbara Beranek and Clara at home.
