Clarence Sharpless, 70 years old, a resident of Cedar county for many years, died at his home in Rochester, south of Tipton, Friday as the result of taking poison by mistake for medicine.
His eyesight had been poorly and this is believed to have caused him to mistake the poison for medicine. He had resided alone with his daughter, who is 41 years of age. She ran to a neighbor and called help when she saw her father had taken poison.
Dr. P. M. Hoffman of Tipton was called but he was dead when the physician arrived. His wife died a number of years ago. He is survived by his daughter and three sons, all of Cedar county. No inquest will be held. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery near Rochester. -- Davenport Times
