Sarah Ann Smith was born in Columbia county, Penn., Aug. 11, 1819. In 1853 she moved with her parents to Cedar county, settling near Yankee Corners on the road between West Branch and Springdale. She became a member of the Society of Friends at Hickory Grove by request Dec. 24, 1863. On Aug. 1, 1866, she was united in marriage to Warner Atkinson, who died January 7, 1879. She departed this life June 6, 1901, having reached the age of 81 years, 9 months and 25 days. Deceased leaves three sisters--Margaret and Lydia Heppenstall and Malinda Reece--and two brothers--Robert and Aaron Smith.
