Funeral services for Elmer Franklin Shawver, 89, were held Feb. 26 at the Sheets and Son Funeral home with the Rev. E. H. Lauer in charge. Burial was in Shawver cemetery at Cedar Bluff.

Pallbearers were Rory McLaughlin, Richard and Don Vincent, Elmer Howarth, William Mason and Henry Peden. Laura Geller was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Overman and Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Dean were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Shawver died Feb. 23 at the Utopia Nursing home following a lingering illness.

The son of Milton and Esther Kaufmann Shawver, he was born March 10, 1876 at Cedar Bluff and was educated in the rural Cedar county schools. He was a member of the Tipton Presbyterian church and the Rochester Masonic lodge.

Mr. Shawver operated a saw mill in Jo-Davis county, Illinois and in Cedar county for many years. He also farmed, retiring in 1932 when he moved to Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Lucille) Vincent, West Branch; Mrs. James (Clarice) McLaughlin, West Clarksville, N.Y.; a son, Lester, Chicago, Ill.; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
