DIED At the residence of the deceased, in Cass tp., Cedar county, Iowa, ELI SHAWVER; born in Harrison county, Ohio, Dec. 22d, 1816. He emigrated to Cedar county in 1830. He connected himself with the Evangelical Lutheran Church April 27th, 1839. Mr. Shawver died with the foul disease, consumption, with which he was confined to his room for two months before his death and long suffered. He was an exemplary member of society, an honorable man in his dealings, a good husband and kind father, and leaves numerous friends and relatives to mourn his loss.
