DIED At the residence of his father, Eli Shawber, in Cass township, Cedar county, Iowa, on the 23d of January, 1864, PARLEY SHAWBER, aged 27 years.

All his acquaintances were his friends, and they attest his virtue, merit and noble traits of character. He was a true friend and an honest man, a patriot and lover of his country. In August, 1862 he volunteered in the 35th Regiment of Iowa Infantry, and served with credit until his health failed, when he returned home, and has since struggled with the disease there contracted until his death.
