8 January 1914 - West Branch Times

Abram Wilson died Monday morning at 1:30 o'clock at his home on east Main street of urania and other complications in his 80th year.

The funeral took place this morning at 10:00 from the Conservative Friends meeting house. The interment was in the Springdale cemetery. The obituary will appear next week.

Abram Wilson was born at Mt. Pleasant, Jefferson county, Ohio, 9th month, 8th day, 1834. He was married to Beulah Elma Thomas 10th month, 29th day, 1856. They moved to Springdale, Iowa, in 1863, and in 1893 to West Branch where he died 1st month, 5th day, 1914. To them were born nine children, Jessie, who died in 1873; Clara, who died in 1891; Anna Walker, Israel J. Wilson, and Frank B. Wilson of West Branch; Prof. T. T. Wilson of Malden, Mass.; Charles F. Wilson of Denver, Colo.; Sarah T. Lane of Winfield, Iowa; and John H. Wilson of Evington, Va. These seven, with the widow, survive him to mourn their loss, and were present at the funeral except John H. He also leaves a half sister, Elizabeth Cook, of Fremont, Ia., who was present at the funeral, and a half brother, Wilson Hirst, of Barnesville, Ohio. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Clark Thomas of Des Moines, Elizabeth Thomas of Prairie City, Samuel Thomas, Harold Thomas and wife of Columbus Junction and Russel Taber of Springville.

The deceased was a good neighbor, a loving father and a faithful husband.

The funeral took place on 5th day, 1st month, 8th, 1915, from the Friends meeting house in West Branch. The interment was in the Springdale cemetery.

22 January 1914 - West Branch Times

Through oversight of those who wrote the obituary of Abram Wilson the names of ten grandchildren most of whom are grown, were omitted, three of these are married, namely, Lydia E. Racey, nee Lydia E. Walker, of Peoria, Ill., Mary E. Holland of West Branch, and Ralph Morris of Colorado. There are also six great grand children.
