Elizabeth Jane Bery Worrall was born on September 6, 1829, in Belmont county, Ohio. She passed from this life at the advanced age of 94 years, her 95th birthday being less than four months distant.

When she was eight years old her parents moved to Morgan county, Ohio. In that neighborhood she received her schooling and later taught school for several years. On March 27, 1851, she was united in marriage with John Worrall at her home in Ohio. Five years later, she, with her husband, moved to the state of Iowa, settling in Iowa township, near Springdale. For almost seventy years she has been a resident of this neighborhood.

Religion had a large place in her life. She was devoted to the church and God's cause from childhood. At the age of fourteen she united with the Locust Grove Methodist Episcopal church, which was then a little country church near her home in Ohio. After coming to Iowa she attended the church services which were then held in the North Liberty school house, a few miles from Springdale. This was a preaching point on a large circuit. Many a weary circuit rider of the Methodist church found a warm wecome and an abunduance of hospitality in her home. When the Methodist Episcopal church at Springdale was organized, she was one of the charter members, and is the last to pass from the church militant to the church triumphant. She was an active worker in the church, having been a Sunday school teacher and superintendent for many years at Springdale.

After many years on the farm, she and Mr. Worrall retired, making their home with their daughter, Mrs. Will Moorhead of West Branch. On February 13, 1917, her faithful husband departed this life at the age of eighty-eight. For sixty-six years they had lived together, happy in their love for each other.

Her religious faith was of the kind which trouble only makes sweeter and stronger. She experienced much trouble in her life. To the worries of caring for a large family was added the grief of burying two sons, Antrim and Charles Addison, both having met death by drowning but at different times. To the last her faith was strong; and when the end came, she was ready to go.

She leaves to recall her virtue as a mother and companion her two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Moorhead of West Branch and Mrs. Harriett E. Boxley of Hobart, Oklahoma, and her three sons, William Worrall of West Branch, George E. Worrall of Kansas City and Herbert E. Worral of Springdale. Many other relatives and friends will long remember her as one whose life has been a blessing and an inspiration to this community.

The death of Mrs. Jane Worrall occurred at her home at West Branch on Monday, May 12th, at the age of 94 years. Mrs. Worrall spent the greater part of her life in this community where she had been greatly admired for her many qualities. As long as health permitted, Aunt Jane, as she has been lovingly called, was ever ready to do her best in her home, in the church, Sunday school, those in affliction, and sorrow and in the community at large. She will long be remembered by a great number of friends who feel that to know her has been an inspiration and an uplift. Her husband preceded her in death a few years ago and she has been tenderly cared for in the home of her daughter Mrs. Lizzie Moorhead at West Branch. The funeral services were held at her home and also the M.E. church at Springdale on Wednesday afternoon, May 14th, with burial at the Pedee cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to those who are bereaved.
