22 March 1900 - West Branch Times

Rachel H. Wilson, sister of C. H. Wickersham of this place, died very suddenly of heart disease at her home in Rock Island, Ill., March 16, 1900, aged forty-four years. She leaves a husband, six children and an aged mother. She came with her parents from Ohio to this neighborhood in 1863 and resided at Springdale where she spent her girlhood. She moved with her mother to Rock Island, Ill., in 1876 and was married to Albert J. Wilson in 1882. She became a member of the M.E. church in 1875 and tried to live as Christ would have her live. She was modest and retiring in disposition, and her home and loved ones furnished her with a loving field of labor. Her character was expressed in this paraphrase: "Her life was gentle and the elements were so mixed in her that all her friends could stand up and say, 'this was a woman'"
