Herman C. Wenman was born in Jackson, Mich., Oct. 20, 1850. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1866, locating near Iowa City. He was married to Lillie Collins at Iowa City, Dec. 5, 1878. There were in the home five children, four of whom still survive--Mrs. W. G. Ham of near Iowa City and Arthur, Walter, Herbert and Lenora who live at home. They had lived in or near West Branch until about two years ago, when they moved to Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Wenman had been in poor health for some time. In July, 1912, a surgical operation became necessary, but it failed to restore him to health. His death occurred on Friday, Oct. 10.

In early life he had been a member of the Baptist church, and recently renewed his faith and died in peace with God.

The funeral services were held at West Branch, Monday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. in the M.E. church. Those from out of town who attended were, his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Dubell of Coneville, and daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Jacobs and little son of near Iowa City, Mrs. J. H. Hensley and Mrs. Collop of Cedar Rapids. Interment in the West Branch cemetery.
