26 April 1923 - West Branch Times

David M. Wright was born in Gower township, Cedar county, Iowa, August 4, 1861, and passed away April 19, 1923. He was the son of David and Nancy Wright and the fourth in a family of eleven children. Of the brothers and sisters he is survived by W. W. Wright of West Branch, O. A. Wright of Oelwein, Jesse M. Wright of Muscatine and Catherine Yetter of Livona, North Dakota. He was united in marriage to Rosa M. Seitzsinger, April 18, 1888. To this union two sons were born, Charles C. and Orville H. The wife passed away December 12, 1900.

Mr. Wright was a man of strong convictions and was scrupulously honest in all his business dealings. He was a life long member of the Republican party and was very zealous for the best interests of the party. At the time of his death and for over twenty-five years he had been a sub-director of his school district. Fraternally Mr. Wright was a member of the Masonic Lodge which he joined May 4, 1890. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Order of which he became one April 29, 1901, and he was a Woodman, which order he joined on February 19, 1903.

The one who has gone from the scenes of earthly toil and fellowship never completely recovered from an attack of influenza in 1919. Since that time his health has slowly declined. Other complications set in to hasten his death. The storms that he faced and foes of his weakening body did not permit him to see the allotted four score years. God is wise that in his plans he leaves with us the memory of the good and the noble to bless us after they are gone.

The funeral service was held in the Methodist Episcopal church Saturday afternoon at half past two. The Rev. W. G. Rowley officiated. The burial service was in charge of the members of the Masonic Lodge of which Mr. Wright was a faithful member. Burial was in the local cemetery.
