26 February 1907 - The Tipton Advertiser

Dr. J. E. Sansom passed away yesterday morning after a very brief illness, death following an attack of diabetes. Dr. Sansom was Tipton's oldest practicing physician. For many years he filled a large place in the social and professional life of this community. He was a man of strong character and excellent ability in his profession, and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. Most of Dr. Sansom's life was spent in this county. In his early manhood he was a teacher in the public schools, but later fitted himself for the practice of medicine, which profession he followed successfully. With the exception of a few years spent in the western part of the state his long and useful life was spent in this county. The news of his death came with a shock to his numerous friends. He had been in failing health for the last few years, but of late had been apparently much better and was attending to his practice as usual up to within a day or two preceding his death.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M.E. church. The Masonic order, of which he was a member, will be in charge of the services at the cemetery.
