Last Monday morning one of the most faithful members of this church passed peacefully away. Mrs. Sarah Fawcett will be greatly missed. The sanctuary was as much a part of her life as was her home. The sympathy of the members and friends of this church is joined to make comfort for those who were closest to her.

Sarah W. Fawcett was born at Chesterhill, Ohio, January 20, 1851, and passed peacefully away in her home near Springdale Monday morning, February 19, 1923. She was one of a family of fourteen children reared in the strict Quaker home of Jesse and Rachel Worthington. In 1874 she was united in marriage to Elwood Fawcett and the new home was started on the prairies of Iowa the place where she died having been her home for forty-nine years.

It was about the year 1887 that Mr. and Mrs. Fawcett united with the Methodist church in Springdale. After a long illness the husband preceded Mrs. Fawcett to the heavenly rest 17 years ago.

Mrs. Fawcett has left to mourn their loss, two brothers, Wm. Worthington of West Liberty and Fred Worthington of Chesterhill, Ohio, and four sisters, Mrs. J. W. Eves of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Miss Louisa Worthington, Mrs. Ella Edgerton and Mrs. Rebecca Worrall of Chesterhill, Oh. There are also the three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Millett, Mrs. Bland Phelps and Miss Edna Fawcett and five grandchildren, Celia and Alf Millett, and Ralph, Carroll and Margaret Phelps.

It is not necessary to more than to mention the friends made in seventy-two years of life's journey by one as refined in spirit and soul as was Mrs. Fawcett. Early in her life she learned the meaning of putting first things first and the things of her God and her religion were taught by every expression of her life. Mrs. Fawcett was a great lover of flowers and during her last illness there were always flowers to cheer her. Mrs. Fawcett was greatly grieved over the death of a sister less than a year ago and no one then thought that she would follow her sister so soon. The last illness accomplished its work very slowly. All that skill and care could do to prolong the weeks that she might stay were done, but when last Monday morning the day dawned here she opened her eyes to a dawn where the day never closes. Another one of the nobility of God's kingdom has gone from our midst but she has left an influence with others who will also keep the faith.

The funeral service was held in the Springdale Methodist church Wednesday forenoon at eleven o'clock. The pastor of her church, Rev. W. G. Rowley, gave a message of comfort. Interment was in the Springdale cemetery beside the body of her husband.
