18 September 1913 - West Branch Times

Mary Louise Bailey was born near Green Village, New Jersey, May 26, 1857, and died at Austin, Minn., Sept. 12, 1913. Her father, Josehn M. Bailey, brought the family to Iowa in 1868, and settled on the farm one mile south of West Branch.

Louise was joined in marriage with Geo. C. Shrader, April 25, 1883. To this union were born five children, two of whom died in infancy, and Mrs. Chas. Cressey of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. John Wentz of West Branch and son, Melven, with her husband, remain to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Shrader had been a sufferer for months, and at last went peacefully to sleep, as a result of Brights disease. Her last illness was made less burdensome by her expressed peace in her trust in Christ. Many times when she was suffering, the friends who ministered to her, could calm and relieve her by singing the dear hymns which she loved. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church one month before her death.

Short services were held in the Austin, Minn., home before leaving, by Rev. Cressey, and the body was brought to this place Sunday. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, at the Frank Secrest home, Rev. W. H. Mitchell of the M.E. church officiating, and was very largely attended. The husband, George C. Shrader, and son, Melven, and daughters, Mrs. Chas. Cressey and husband of Austin, Minn., and Mrs. John Wentz of this place, accompanied the remains to this place. Other relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were, mother-in-law to the deceased, Mrs. Elizabeth Shrader, of Moline, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Reinking of Des Moines and Mrs. James Douglass, and Mrs. Jennie Wilson and Charles and Edward Shrader of Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. George Jameson and George Nichols of Vinton. The interment was in the Downey cemetery.
