27 November 1913 - West Branch Times

Evi Sharpless was born of Christian parentage, in Mercer county, Penn., 6 Mo. 4th, 1844, and died at Boulder, Colorado, 9 Mo. 21st, 1913.

While he was quite young the family removed and settled on a farm near Springdale, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was converted early in life and in him was manifested in a marked degree, what the grace and power of God can do for a heart and life wholly consecrated to Him and His service.

In the year 1881 he visited the island of Jamaica, where he founded a Christian mission, which has since grown to large proportions, with the establishment of several churches. After several years spent on the island he returned to the states and spent much of his time in evangelistic service.

In 1892 he was married to Della Mann of R. I., who died in 1903.

In the same year he came to Colorado and engaged in gospel service, holding series of meetings at gold and coal mining camps, in which he was instrumental in the conversion of many. In 1908 he was married to Margaret Haddock, who still survives him. One sister is still living at West Branch, Iowa.

Evi Sharpless was a firm believer in he efficacy of the shed blood of Jesus Christ, to save from sin; and in the near approach of the second coming of our Lord. He passed from this life, in the triumphs of living faith. --Taken from Evangelistical Friend
