17 January 1935 - The Tipton Advertiser

Roy Rehbehn, well known Tipton business man, a World war veteran and owner and operator of the Texaco Oil Station of this city, met a tragic death Monday evening two miles south of Tipton when his oil truck rolled over on the roadside, pinning him beneath the cab. Mr. Rehbehn had been at Muscatine and was enroute home with a truck load of gasoline. The cause of the fatal accident, or how it occurred, is not known as Mr. Rehbehn was alone, and no one witnessed the crash. It is believed he may have fallen asleep for a moment and lost control of the heavy vehicle.

Mr. Rehbehn's body was found beneath the truck by County Engineer H. L. Phelps, who drove along the highway, enroute home.

Coroner McCormick was summoned and the body was brought to Tipton in the ambulance.

Mr. Rehbehn was 45 years of age. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 24, A.F.& A.M., Rochester, a member of the American Legion, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served eighteen months overseas during the World war, and his wedding was a romance of that time, Mrs. Rehbehn having served as a war nurse. Besides the widow, Mr. Rehbehn is survived by four brothers and three sisters: Elry E. Rehbehn of Tipton; Mrs. E. E. Atkins, Tipton; George, of Muscatine; Mrs. Rose Bachelor, of Richmond, Va., Frank O. of Harbor City, Calif.; and Henry, of Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Tipton Methodist church, Rev. Roscoe C. Jerrel officiating. Services at the grave will be under auspices of Golden Rule Lodge No. 24, assisted by a contingent of ex-service comrades.
