W. E. Forsythe, for many years a resident of this neighborhood, died at his home at Atalissa last Thursday evening of cancer of the stomach. The funeral was held from the home Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, with burial at West Branch.

William Erwing Forsyth was born in Collierstown, Va., July 22, 1865, and died at Atalissa, Ia., July 7, 1921, aged 55 years, 11 months and 15 days. He was the son of William and Margaret Forsyth.

After his marriage to Rachel F. Hogue on the 22d day of Feb., 1888, he came to Iowa and settled in West Branch and continued his residence in that vicinity until a few months ago, when he retired from active life and settled in Atalissa, Ia. He united with the Presbyterian church over 30 years ago. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Besides his wife and son, Lee H., of Atalissa, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Mary McCaleb of Elston, Ia., Mrs. Nannie Tribbett of Collierstown, Va., Margaret Jack and Mrs. O. C. Pennock of West Branch; one brother, Henry, of Manchester, Ky., a number of nieces and nephews and a host of sorrowing friends.

Mr. Forsyth was of a cheerful disposition and his many deeds of kindness and neighborly acts of love will always be remembered by those who knew him best.

The funeral services were held from the home at 9:30 Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. U. S. Evans, pastor of the Presbyterian church and interment was made in the cemetery at West Branch.

Note: Both spellings, Forsyth and Forsythe, are used in the newspaper.
