Funeral services for Dr. J. B. Lane, 70, Marshalltown, former Clarence dentist, were held Jan. 31 at Marshalltown. The Rev. Calvin Schumacher, Clarence and the Rev. L. A. Davison, Ferguson, officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Marshalltown, with members of the American Legion post of Clarence participating, and Masonic services by Mt. Hope Lodge No. 501, Clarence. Pallbearers were Henry Klatt, Durwood Greig, Richard Elijah, Harold Dewell, Lloyd Hasselbusch and Grover Penningroth. Honorary pallbearers were Lee and Vern Freeman, Lester Kelly, Arthur Claney and Lawrence Kline.

Dr. Lane died Jan. 28 in a Marshalltown hospital where he had been a patient for a month.

The son of John A. and Mary Birks Lane, he was born Aug. 30, 1895 in Marshalltown, where he received his early education. He was a 1919 graduate of the University of Iowa Dental school. He was married to Helen Findlay July 1, 1922, at Stanwood where the couple lived for a year, before moving to Clarence where Dr. Lane practiced dentistry until his retirement in 1966. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, American Legion Post, Mt. Hope Lodge, Commercial club, O.E.S., all of Clarence and the Cedar Rapids Dental society.

Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, George, Decatur, Ga.; Richard, Marietta, Ga., and Robert, Marshalltown, 5 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
