Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Maria Brown Kerslake,85, life-long resident of Cedar and Linn counties, were held June 7 at the Federated church in Lisbon. The Rev. Clinton Jeffers officiated.

Burial was in the Masonic cemetery at Tipton with the following as pallbearers: John Kohl, William Kruse, Richard Carbee, Dale Johnston, Claude Mitchell and Robert Dolan.

Emily Maria Brown was married to Christopher C. Kerslake Oct. 4, 1911. They lived in and near Tipton until 1932, when they moved back to the Coon Creek community. On retirement in 1950 they moved to Lisbon.

Mrs. Kerslake died June 5 at her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1882, and attended schools in Cedar county. She was an active member of the Coon Creek Community church and became pianist at the age of 13 and continued through her 83rd year.

She is survived by her son, Roland Kerslake, Lisbon and her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Gallmeyer, Lisbon; a brother, Charlie D. Brown, Stanwood, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Brown; a sister, Nellie Brown Kamerling, and her husband.
