Samuel C. Hensley was born in Virginia April 8th, 1840, and died at the home of his son, J. C. Hensley, 219 S. 10th St., W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Tuesday, May 21, 1912, aged 72 years, 1 month and 13 days.

He served three years in the civil war as a member of Co. K, 11th Iowa Infantry. Was a member of Wapsinonoc Lodge No. 381, A.F. & A.M. of West Branch.

Deceased is survived by two sons, J. H. of Cedar Rapids, and W. A. of Montezuma, his wife having died seven years ago. Three sisters and a brother also survive.

Mr. Hensley was well known in this community, having lived here a number of years prior to taking up his residence in Cedar Rapids.

The funeral services were held at the M.E. church Thursday afternoon.
