James Harrison died at his residence one and a half miles north of Oasis on Sunday, Dec. 7th, 1890. He was born in Ohio in 18?? and moved to Iowa in 1854. Was married to Sarah J. Boal, who together with a son and daughter are left to mourn the departure of husband and father. He was a man of retiring disposition, yet of fixed principals. While possessing traits of character peculiarly his own, he was a man of uprightness of conduct and religiously disposed. For a number of years he was an elder in the Fairview Presbyterian church. He was deeply devoted to the church of his choice and with untiring diligence labored for its interests in every particular. By his death the family sustains a severe loss, and in this their affliction they have the unfeigned sympathy of their friends and neighbors. By his translation, the church loses an arm of strength, and the neighborhood a good man. Funeral services were held at Fairview Presbyterian church and was attended by a large concourse of people. He rests from his afflictions and his memory is blessed. G.H.H.
