27 August 1891 - West Branch Times

DIED On Tuesday, August 18, 1891, Lafayette A., son of the late John and Susan Oxley, in his thirty-seventh year.

Deceased was born in Belmont county, Ohio, December 27, 1854. He was married to Miss Carrie Jones on March 21, 1882, and started that day for Iowa. He came to Union Valley where he remained about nine months. He then removed to Springdale where he has lived since. He was taken with malaria fever about three weeks ago, and when the crisis was reached, quietly passed away. He leaves a wife and five children. During the revival meetings held in the M.E. church at Springdale in the winter of 1888 he was under deep conviction. He was converted in his wagon on the road. He at once united with the M.E. church and has since been a consistent member. He has served the church in the capacity of a steward for the last year. In the death of brother Oxley the community loses a respected citizen, the church an honored member and his family a kind husband and father. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. S. Craft assisted by the neighboring pastors.
