Fred C. Marble, 76, of Bennett, Iowa, publisher of the Bennett Gazette for 30 years until his retirement three years ago, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mercy hospital, Davenport. He had been in failing health for several months.

Mr. Marble, son of the late Atty. and Mrs. Clark Marble, was born in Burlington, Iowa, June 17, 1870. He received his education in the Burlington schools and was married to Hannah McLean of Gerard, Ill. She died in 1913 and he later married Louise Trau, who preceded him in death in March, 1945. Mr. Marble served his apprenticeship as a printer on the Burlington Gazette and Hawkeye and became editor and publisher of the Bennett Gazette in 1913.

The body was removed to the Sheets funeral home in Tipton pending arrangements. Burial will be in Burlington.

Surviving are two sons, Fred C. Marble Jr., of Peoria, Ill., and Robert W. Marble of Springfield, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Owens of Sedalia, Mo.; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
