Funeral services for Julius Milton Sternberg, 90, Vinton, and formerly of Lowden, were held Oct. 18, 1993 at Trinity Lutheran church in Lowden, with the Rev. John Ranbargar officiating. Mrs. Melvin Wiebel was the organist and the Trinity Men's Choir sang. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Lowden.

Mr. Sternberg died Oct. 15 at the Virginia Gay hospital in Vinton following a long illness.

The son of Jacob and Aaltje Valk Sternberg, he was born Sept. 1, 1903 in Fulton, Ill. His family moved to Lowden when he was 15. He attended the Lowden school until the 11th grade and then worked at the creamery. He also cut wood, worked in a stone quarry and worked for the Chicago and North Western railroad until losing his sight at age 30.

Mr. Sternberg moved to the Lutheran Home in Vinton in 1977. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Lowden.

He has no immediate survivors but he has nieces and nephews living in Illinois. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
