6 November 1930 - The Pioneer Press

Funeral services for Albert Albaugh who quietly passed away at the home of his daughter at McIntire, Iowa, last Friday, were held from the M. E. church Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Schmidt, pastor of the church had charge of the services. Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Albert Albaugh, son of William and Mary Albaugh, was born October 23, 1851, in the state of Ohio.

He was the second born in a family of nine children. When he was still a small child his parents brought the family westward, traveling in a covered wagon, coming to this community in the eighteen fifties when the country was new, and Mechanicsville has been his home most all of his life except four years spent on a farm in northern Iowa.

On January 6, 1881, he was married to Nancy E. Boyles and four children were born to them: Don A., of Cedar Rapids; William Glen, of Mechanicsville and Beulah Mabel, wife of Mr. W. C. Wheeldon, of McIntire, Iowa. One daughter passed away in infancy and 14 years ago last April his wife preceded him in death.

Six years ago his health began to fail and he went to McIntire to make his home with his daughter and family, where he quietly and peacefully passed away on Friday, October 31, 1930, having reached the age of 79 years and 8 days.

Besides the two sons and one daughter he is survived by two grand children: Lloyd and Robert Wheeldon; two brothers: Edward of Clinton and John, of Mechanicsville; two sisters: Mrs. William Guthrie and Mrs. William Connor, both of Mechanicsville; numerous nieces and nephews and hosts of friends, both here and at McIntire, who, with the family, mourn his departure.
