Mrs. Clara Harden was born August 26, 1881. She was a daughter of F. A. and Augusta Schoening of Manning, Iowa. There were twelve children in the family, eight of whom are living, and are mourning the death of their sister. There names are Ferdinand, of Estherville, Iowa; Albert of Manning, Iowa; August of Santiago, Calif.; Robert of Lakefield, Minn.; Mrs. J. E. Williams of Chicago; Mrs. Agustus Steffen, Spirit Lake, Iowa; Miss Erma Shoening of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. H. F. Downey, Woodburn, Ore.

There are two children of her former husband, Allen Wehde of Plato and LeRoy Wehde of Cedar Bluff.

On Sept. 14, 1910, she became the wife of H. C. Harden. They were married at Oasis, Ia., and the following children were born: Mrs. Myrtle Achey of Tipton; Kenneth, Henry, Lucille, Louis, Johnnie, Eugene and Robert, all at home.

For some time they have been living at Plato, where about a year ago Mrs. Harden became ill with a cancer. Treatment was taken for it and for a time she improved, but since Dec. 18 last, she has been confined to her bed, and no hope has been held for her recovery. The end came last Tuesday, March 10, and the life which had been racked by much suffering was truly blessed with rest and peace.

Funeral services were held at the home, Plato, Friday, March 12, at 2 p.m. Burial was made in the Honey Grove Cemetery. The Rev. H. D. Green of the Methodist church was in charge.
