6 October 1932 - The Tipton Advertiser

Bob Everett of near Rochester was the victim of a tragic accident Monday afternoon when he was literally torn to pieces by explosion of a charge of dynamite while working at the stone quarry near Rochester. Mr. Everett and Robt. McCormick had been quarrying in a small rock deposit on the Everett farm recently for commercial use. A load of dynamite had been set, but failed to explode and Mr. Everett went down Monday after dinner to investigate. It is supposed that he used a pick and must have struck the explosive hard enough to cause its discharge.

When Everett did not return at the usual supper hour, McCormick started a search for him. Upon his arrival at the quarry he found the man blown to pieces on the quarry ledge.

Mr. Everett was about 46 years of age and is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Middleton, and a son Clifford, as well as several brothers and sisters to mourn his tragic death.

Funeral services are being held at Rochester church this afternoon, the Rev. Otis R. Moore officiating, and burial will be in Mt. Zion cemetery.
