6 September 1934 - The West Branch Times

Mrs. J. B. Clark, who has been confined to her home the past four years by illness, passed away at 9:30 o'clock this (Thursday) morning. Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but will probably be held from the home on Cedar street, some time Saturday.

Addie Colip was the daughter of Alexander and Amanda Colip, long time prominent members of this community. She was born June 15, 1871. She was a classmate of Herbert Hoover during their early schooldays, and eight year old Bertie, with childish spelling, wrote in her memory book, "Let your days be days of peas, Slip along as slick as greas." This little book she treasured and was proud, also, of the messages of sympathy which he, during his term as President sent her during her long illness.

She is survived by her husband, James B. Clark, and one brother, Edwin E. Colip of Cedar Rapids.
