Tipton friends received word this week of the death of Mrs. Emma Filson Swearingen, which occurred at her home in San Diego, California, Saturday, August 6th. Mrs. Swearingen resided in Tipton for many years prior to her locating in California, and is well and favorably known to many friends in the Tipton community. She was a sister of Sarah Filson of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Laura Walters of Des Moines. Her husband preceded her in death two years ago. She is survived by one son in San Diego, with whom she had made her home.
