19 May 1932 - The Tipton Advertiser

E. F. Geary, highly respected resident of the city, former proprietor of the Red Star café, was summoned last Friday, following a long siege of illness. He will be missed greatly by the many friends in the community which has been his home the past twenty four years.

Edward F. Geary, the youngest son of a family of five children, was born at Champaign, Ill., April 19, 1868. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Geary. When Edward was 5 years old the family moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., where he grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Miss Ola Srhier Feb. 19, 1895. Mr. and Mrs. Geary came to Tipton in 1908. For a time he engaged in the butcher business in the employ of Mr. Stepman. Afterward he conducted a restaurant for ten years and engaged in various other activities.

He departed this life Friday, May 13, 1932, aged 64 years and 24 days. All of the other members of his family preceded him in death, his wife being his only survivor. Mr. Geary's residence of 24 years in Tipton were fruitful in the formation of friendships warm and lasting. Ed will be sorely missed by his acquaintances who during the year of his last illness anxiously hoped for his recovery and who extend their deepest sympathy to his bereaved companion.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home by Rev. W. E. Van Buren, with interment in the Masonic cemetery.
